LIVERPOOL FC CONTINUE TO LEVEL UP ON GENDER EQUALITY BY JOINING WOMEN IN FOOTBALL

The world’s most popular sport takes another step towards equality, diversity and inclusion today, with a new collaboration between the Premier League champions and the leading organisation working to support gender equality in football.

Liverpool FC will join the Club Membership programme at Women in Football (WIF), opening up new professional development opportunities for the club’s female workforce and access to WIF’s team of expert consultants, providing support to create a gender-equal organisational culture.

Teams from the two organisations will work together to create a bespoke package of opportunities to build on LFC’s existing work via their Red Together programme to support equality in the workplace.

The services include group workshops to raise awareness and drive change around gender inclusion; access to the latest industry insights relating to the football workforce; and direct support for the female workforce with group coaching, mentoring, and places on the highly renowned Women in Football Leadership Course

April Tomlinson, Senior Vice President People and Culture at Liverpool FC, said: “We’re delighted to join Women in Football’s Club Membership programme and offer this opportunity to our female workforce. This is a great opportunity for our people.

“We’re proud of the work we already do through our Red Together strategy and pleased we can build on this with Women in Football’s support and mentoring. Red Together is our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and encompasses everything we do internally and externally.”

Great news

Women in Football CEO Yvonne Harrison said: "I’d like to extend a very warm welcome to the Premier League champions. Having a club of Liverpool’s stature among our club members demonstrates the importance of Women in Football’s work, as well as our growing influence in the game. It’s great news for the club and its workforce and we are delighted we can add value to their existing work in building a great environment for their team to thrive.

“We know organisations perform at their best when their culture is as inclusive as possible, and we’re looking forward to supporting Liverpool to become the most gender-equal employer they can be."

Work undertaken as part of the new relationship between Women in Football and Liverpool FC will be highlighted in WIF’s forthcoming communications, providing high-profile examples of some of the practical measures that clubs can take to tackle gender inequality in the football industry.

Launched in 2021 when Brighton & Hove Albion FC joined up, WIF’s Club Membership programme now also includes Arsenal, Brentford, Manchester City (through City Football Group), and Newcastle United.

Media giants Sky Sports and Warner Bros TNT have joined Women in Football’s corresponding Corporate Membership initiative, along with the EFL, FA and Premier League, the Premier League Charitable Fund, venue and events specialists Sodexo Live! and international sports marketers tms.
