BE A WOMEN IN FOOTBALL DIRECTOR AND HELP US TRANSFORM THE SPORT

Women in Football is looking to recruit two new board members in early 2025, and is ready to receive applications now.

This is a unique opportunity to join the board of an organisation committed to creating meaningful and lasting change in the world of football. As we strengthen our impact, we are seeking commercially minded, well-networked board members to help us achieve our ambitious goals.

As a non-executive director, you will work closely with the Chair and fellow board members, offering insight, challenge, and support to the executive team. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our strategic direction and ensuring the organisation’s long-term success, leveraging your expertise and networks to advance our mission and deepen our impact on the football industry.

You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of an ambitious, forward-thinking organisation alongside a highly talented board, working with leading figures in football, sport, and diversity to create meaningful change, contribute to an exciting growth story and leave a lasting legacy of inclusion and equality. Help Women in Football to achieve our aims and you’ll enhance your own profile as a champion of EDI and a leader in sports governance.

More about Women in Football: our work and our team

Key responsibilities

Ensure sound governance practices, financial prudence, and alignment with WIF’s mission, offering constructive oversight and challenge as appropriate.

Champion EDI
Act as a role model and advocate for equality, diversity, and inclusion within the organisation and the broader football community.

Represent the organisation
Act as an ambassador for WIF, enhancing its reputation and influence within key industries and sectors, including representing WIF at key events, forums, and industry discussions.

What you'll bring

Reputation and profile
A leader in your field, with a strong professional profile and credibility.

Influential network
A well-established network in the football industry, sports administration, broader business communities, policymakers, or EDI-focused organisations, with the ability to cultivate meaningful connections and help us build our community.

Inspirational leadership
A visible and respected advocate for equality who can influence stakeholders and challenge the status quo, with a strong commitment to cultural and social change.

Commitment to governance
A sound understanding of corporate governance, transparency and accountability.

Strategic insight
The ability to assess complex issues, challenge constructively, and contribute to informed decision-making, heightening the impact of our work.

We’ll need you to take part in six board meetings per year. Roughly four of these are face to face (typically in London) and two remote. As a director you’ll also contribute to specific committees and projects, according to your skill set. The time commitment should be within two days per month.

As a non-profit, Women in Football’s directorships are currently unpaid, but we are able to reimburse your expenses.
