Women in Football are delighted to announce that we are seeking applications for the Vikki Orvice Memorial Director Development Scheme.
Women in Football will help the successful applicant develop the skills necessary to seek a board position by working closely with our board for a year.
Vikki Orvice was a founding member of Women in Football, and a trailblazer for women working in the game, and determined to stand up for those who lacked confidence, and needed a guiding hand.
Boards of many organisations now recognise that they need greater diversity than they have had in the past, and are reaching out to historically excluded groups to find their future directors. We want to help with this by guiding an individual to develop the skills and experience to become board ready.
We are looking for someone who doesn’t have previous board experience, and we are particularly interested in hearing from candidates from groups who are currently under-represented on the boards of football bodies.
The successful candidate will
The opportunity is for 12 months, and will involve around 8-12 hours work a month. Most of this can be done outside usual working hours (although our quarterly board meetings take place during office hours). It is unpaid (but reasonable expenses will be paid). This training opportunity is unpaid and does not constitute employment.
About Women in Football
Women in Football was established in 2007 as a network of professional women working in and around the football industry to support and champion their peers. Incorporated in 2013, Women in Football now has a membership of over 3,500.
