Switch the Play are running a personal development masterclass for women working in football and playing football as part of their #WhatIf pledge
One of the most common questions Women in Football is asked by its members is about becoming ‘board ready’. How do I get a place on a board? What skills do I need? How do I know if I’m ready to become a board member?
Women in Football’s CEO, Jane Purdon, has spoken passionately here about how it’s so important for football organisations to have a diverse and balanced board – and now, as part of their #WhatIf pledge, Switch the Play is offering Women in Football members a fantastic free masterclass to help you become ‘board ready’.
Back in May, Switch the Play, a social enterprise dedicated to preparing athletes for transition into life outside of sport, pledged to Women in Football’s #WhatIf campaign: #WhatIf Switch the Play ran personal development masterclasses for women working in football and playing football?
Now this incredible pledge is coming to fruition. On Thursday 21 November, one of Switch the Play’s experienced facilitators will hold a free masterclass in corporate governance and becoming board ready for 20 Women in Football members.
Switch the Play’s masterclass is set up to encourage women to take on board memberships, and will introduce you to the roles on a UK board. The masterclass is designed to break down the myths around what it takes to be a Trustee, Director and a Non-Executive Director, and is delivered in a fun and competitive way using a board game with engagement exercises around it.
The aim of the game is to help make those in attendance aware that they can apply for leadership roles and help contribute and also change the way their sport, or non-sporting organisations, are run. You can find out more about the masterclass and Switch the Play here.
This free masterclass will last run from 5.30pm-8.30pm, and will take place at Engine, 60 Great Portland Street, London W1W 7RT. Light refreshments will be provided, and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
If you’d like to learn more about becoming board ready in a fun, interactive environment, then please email Cassie at events@womeninfootball.co.uk as soon as possible to book your spot*. We look forward to meeting you on 21 November.
* Please only book a place on this event if you are committed to joining us. If you can no longer make the masterclass, then please let us know no later than 5pm on Monday 18 November. Any no-shows or late withdrawals may influence your chances of attending future free Women in Football events.
