Women in Football seeking new board member

Women in Football was established in 2007 as a network of professional women working in and around the football industry to support and champion their peers.

Incorporated in 2013, we now have a membership of approximately 2,900.

The board governs the organisation and has overall responsibility for its performance and direction. It recently approved a new strategy which seeks to ensure that Women in Football:

  • Works with the football industry to enhance career pathways for women working in the game, and is a recognised leader in providing personal development and networking opportunities for them;
  • Is recognised as a ‘go to’ voice with government, the football authorities, clubs and other organisations in in respect of issues concerning women working in the game; and
  • Offers effective legal and moral support in discrimination cases.

Women in Football is now seeking to recruit a new independent non-executive director, who will be responsible to the chair of the board.

Purpose:

Collectively, the board:

  • Sets, agrees and monitors delivery of the overall strategy and policy for Women in Football.
  • Ensures effective arrangements are in place to provide assurance on risk management, governance, legal and regulatory compliance, and internal control of major projects.

Directors may therefore also take on additional responsibilities such as membership of Women in Football’s committees, of which four exist: Legal and HR, Communications, Events, Finance and Marketing.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Using their own work experience, expertise, knowledge  and networks to support the work of the Board.
  • Help facilitate introductions to potential new commercial partners
  • Inform and update the Board to help facilitate and support the Board process
  • Ensure that diversity and equality of opportunity are addressed throughout the work strands of the organisation
  • Represent Women in Football at events and conferences where appropriate
  • Promote (and champion) the work of Women in Football
