Teenager Lucy Sinclair short-listed for top Scottish award

Lucy Sinclair - short listed for Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the Celebrating Scottish Entrepreneurship Awards.

Lucy Sinclair's has been short-listed in the Young Entrepreneur category of the 2018 Celebrating Scottish Entrepreneurship Awards for her outstanding contribution to football.

The Awards shine a spotlight on Scotland’s innovators, visionaries and game-changers, whilst recognising inspirational stories and thee contribution made by people of all ages.

Fifteen-year-old Lucy is joined by two other youngsters - Erin McGinley and Isla Leslie - vying for the title of Young Entrepreneur.

A keen footballer since a young child, Lucy was determined to find a way for others to share her passion for the sport by bringing the fun back into football.

The result is iBaller – a unique football experience in Glasgow accommodates all age groups and abilities as part of the iTouches sporting social enterprise.

Michael Sinclair - Lucy's dad and iTouches ambassador - explained: “Lucy has been involved with football since she was a little kid.

“Over the last year or so, we've been speaking about how football seems to have lost its whole engagement and has become quite serious. We spoke about where the fun has gone. and also how do Girls find work within sport.

“We wanted somewhere kids could go with their parents and grandparents and enjoy some family time."

Lucy then started looking at fun ways to involve football, such as football darts and other football games, and decided it was something she wanted to do and develop new and innovative ways to enjoy football.

“iBaller is a place where it's not down to skill and how good you are," added Michael, "It's all about kids having fun and also helps young girls find part time employment."

Lucy and iBaller now employs eight part-time staff with ages ranging from 14-18yrs.
