Everton make groundbreaking #WhatIf pledge with unique Premier League kit launch

Everton, in conjunction with the Club’s technical partner Umbro, has added their support behind Women in Football’s ground-breaking #WhatIf campaign, making a pledge that will see the Everton Ladies take the spotlight in the Club’s upcoming kit launch.

The pledge, #WhatIf Everton became the first Premier League club to use their Ladies team to launch a kit?, will see the Everton Ladies launch the Club’s 2018/19 away kit- in a Club and football first that will work to help raise the profile of girls and women in football.

#WhatIf is an innovative campaign with the objective of empowering businesses, celebrities and members of the public to identify ways that they can act to contribute to an improvement for women and girls within the football industry, however large or small.

Launched by Women in Football to mark our 10-year anniversary, the #WhatIf campaign has already seen support from a host of influential organisations such as Sky Sports, SPORF, Twitter and Forza Football.

Aaron Little, General Manager Everton Ladies, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be a part of this ground-breaking and inspirational #WhatIf campaign.

“Everton prides itself on being pioneering and inclusive and to be the first club to break new ground and make a pledge to highlight the ladies team in this way really displays Everton’s one club philosophy.

“The Club’s commitment to growing the profile of the women’s game is admirable and is a real reflection of just how far the women’s game has come.”

Anna Kessel, chair of Women in Football, said: "When Women in Football launched the #WhatIf campaign in May to celebrate our 10th anniversary season, we were blown away by the positive response from the football world and sports industry, both on a national and global level.

"We are delighted that Everton, a football club steeped in tradition (and who hosted a women’s game featuring Dick, Kerr Ladies on Boxing Day 1920 watched by a crowd of 53,000), have added their support to #WhatIf with this groundbreaking pledge.

"Everton were one of the first Premier League clubs to get in touch with us following the launch and we have maintained a really positive dialogue throughout.

"Increasing the visibility of women’s involvement in football is key and this is a great example of collaborative working.

"We would like to thank Everton for their proactive approach and support of the #WhatIf campaign."

The Everton 2018/19 Away Kit is set to be launched in the coming days, more information will be available on www.evertonfc.com
