Louise Bawden will be bringing us an exclusive inside look at the World Cup with her special diary
Louise Bawden, Duty Editor Omnisport (senior video journalist), is one of an exclusive band of women working for the media at the World Cup.
We are delighted that over the coming 41 days, Louise is going to share her experiences and provide an insight into what it is like to be covering a football tournament that was watched by a worldwide audience of 3.2 billion in 2014.
Day 1 Moscow
Every football fan dreams of going to a World Cup and I am no different.
Since I was a little girl football has been an obsession for me, so to touch down on the runway in Moscow was an incredible feeling.
Walking through the airport with all the FIFA banners and posters was incredibly exciting.
Travelling for big tournaments can be a little daunting, but a full English at Heathrow really set me up for the day.
The flight was good and I even had a whole row to myself, having my feet up this early in the trip was a pleasant surprise.
Moscow is known for its horrendous traffic and it didn’t disappoint getting to the hotel. It took us a while to get to the hotel but the anticipation of seeing my digs for the next 40 days was all I could think about.
A sunny evening in Moscow calls for a bit of a reckie and dinner with my colleague, because getting your bearings at the start of the trip is so important.
Still can’t believe I am here covering my first World Cup, but feel really privileged to have this opportunity and I hope I can give you all an insight into the world's biggest sporting spectacle.
From Russia with Love
Louise
