Case Study #1: Match day incident

"I went to watch a League One match last season between Fleetwood and Swindon Town and experienced some overt sexism towards the female Referee's Assistant. I was really annoyed about it and wrote a blog for the Swindon fanzine This blog was picked up by Women In Football who contacted me and raised an incident on my behalf with The Football League, Swindon Town and Fleetwood. I am so glad they did because the responses showed me that sexism is an important issue but there is more to be done. Every incident raised adds valuable evidence to the scale of the problem within the game.

I urge anyone who has experienced sexism to contact Women In Football and let them report it. They bring a level of seriousness to the issue that I could never have brought by myself. By continuing this work the game's authorities will have to realise the scale of the problem and will have an evidence base to force action."


Case Study #2: Work place incident


"I suffered direct sex discrimination from a Director at the Football Club I work for. At first I could not believe that in 2014 this kind of thing still existed, as soon as I contacted Women in Football I felt better. I was reassured about the process of making a formal complaint and was supported afterwards. A Football Club is a male dominated environment and can be intimidating; with the help of Women in Football, it didn't seem as daunting. Thank you for all of your help and support".
