Leadership Programme

Leadership Programme

Women in Football believes in creating opportunities for women to develop careers in the football industry. Our Leadership Programme offers the opportunity to develop your potential as an individual, enhance your personal skills and learn new ones in a supportive environment. The courses are open exclusively to women who are already working, or aspire to work, in the football industry. Find details of our upcoming programmes below.

During the first half of the programme you can expect to refine effective leadership skills by learning to lead with self-awareness and confidence. And in the second half you'll put leadership into practice by learning personal branding, getting board-ready and leading with impact for future success. At level 3 we also undertake a psychometric profile and a 40-minute personal profile session.

Women in Football recognise that there is significant work to be done to advance racial equality in the football industry, and we are committed to providing greater access to opportunities for women from backgrounds that are currently underrepresented in the football industry. In support of this, we’ve teamed up with the Premier League to provide bursary places on the programme for women representing the nine protected characteristics, as defined in the Equality Act 2010, or the additional characteristics of socio-economic background and caring responsibilities. Through our shared commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion these fully funded Premier League bursary places cover the course fees as well as a contribution to travel and accommodation.

We offer both online and in person courses. The online edition offers the same opportunities to develop your potential as an individual, enhance your skills and learn new ones as part of a mutually supportive group of peers – with all the comfort and convenience of participation through your laptop. To find out more about the Leadership Programme from someone who has completed it, check out our member in focus feature with Danetta Powell, Director of Operations at BEP, who said: "I genuinely don't think I would have got the Academy Manager role without doing the Women in Football Leadership Programme, so thanks WIF!"

Friendly reminder: Programme levels 1 and 2 require a few years work experience and levels 3 and 4 require at least two years management experience to take part. You do not need to complete levels 1 and 2 of the programme to complete levels 3 and 4.
